Busy, Busy, Busy...

Hi Everyone!

Ohhh...I should have posted something sooner--two weeks ago we had our ward youth conference (youth 14-18 years-old). We camped two nights at Brannan Island SRA. Our youth are AWESOME! Fourteen of our ward youth attended and they became fast friends...it was run by the youth-age leaders in our ward and they did a FANTASTIC job.
On our way to the campsite we stopped and took a tour at the Jelly-Belly Factory...bought and devoured some Belly-Flops :D
When we got to camp the girls impressed me cuz they had their tents up and everything set-up in 20 minutes...sorry boys but they out-did ya!
Aunt Kathy and I slept in the back of our van...used a queen-size air mattress that didn't QUITE fit. Kathleen got wedged between the side of the van and the air mattress and we couldn't stop laughing! We had a wonderful campfire the first evening. We began with youth skits...they are so funny!

Our Eagle Scouts retired several American flags & Devon Kempter spoke on the Constitution and what it means to us...inspired us all.  Our youth-age captains and co-captains gave inspirational talks the second day. They knew just what to share and did such a nice job! After a full-day of group activities and fun the Bishopric spoke to us all at campfire and we had a testimony meeting. The spirit was so strong! I am so grateful for this experience and it is such a priviledge to spend time with and serve the youth.

Youth hangin' out!

I've been in a baking mood the last two days! Zucchini bread (homegrown zucchini from our garden), bread, hamburger buns (topped w/poppy seeds, onion, and sesame seeds) and bread sticks for Sunday (I'm thinking parmesan and garlic). I've been thinking alot about homemade noodles which means I need to make some...fettucini al burro or served with homemade basil pesto...mmmmm-mmmm-mmmm!

School started this week for Rae and Nate. It's always such a huge adjustment for us Folkman's. Up early to make lunches and get Rae to seminary and we have several carpools going--my head swims from all of the comings and goings. Late night homework--need I say more :D. One of my favorite things about starting school is purchasing the school supplies...I love new binders, papers, highlighters, pens, pencils, markers, backpacks, etc. It's so fun to organize it all...my kids don't need my help anymore but I still like to watch and touch all of the supplies...lol.

Our Young Women in Excellence Sacrament Mtg. program is Sunday, September 19th. We have been prepping for a couple of months now...it will be a beautiful program and the music is AWESOME. We really look forward to this all year long! Basically it is a program to celebrate who these young women are and their Personal Progress accomplishments throughout this past year.

Our neighbors, Rich and Sonia Weaver, are taping an episode of the "Yard Crashers" TV show over at their home right now. They won a backyard makeover so yesterday and today there have been lots and lots of cars and work vehicles parked in our neighborhood--and tons of excitement! We attend church together...they are really nice folks and we are happy for them. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I've been working on "organizing my life" the past week or two. There are some really great Blogs out there to help "organizationally-impaired" folks such as myself.    Say a prayer for me :D

Tootles!
